Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a common rheumatological disorder affecting approximately up to 1% of the adult population worldwide. Before modern treatments were available, unchecked rheumatoid arthritis caused significant disability and mortality .It is now accepted that early diagnosis and treatment are necessary and beneficial. Advance s in treatment of rheumatoid arthritis have made it possible to profoundly influence signs and symptoms as well as the course of joint destruction in inflammatory arthritis. Earlier and more efficient treatment appears to significantly improve the prognosis of this disease. In this article, I review the old and new method for treatment rheumatoid arthritis and their limitation and benefits these method including: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs), Glucocorticoids(GC) are a class of steroid hormones, Disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs), Biological agents can be divided in two groups: monoclonal antibodies and small molecules, Bisphosphonate therapy, Nano technology, Oral tolerance, Photodynamic therapy, Gene Therapy, Bone Marrow Transplantation, liposomes, Super paramagnetic iron oxide nano particles (SPIONs).
