AbstractThis research was aimed at studying the stress, anxiety, and depression epidemiology among highschoolers in Mashhad, Iran. The sample included 605 students (341 males & 264 females) coming from various grades of high school ranging in age from 14 to 19. To fulfill the objectives of the study, three instruments (scales) were employed including the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), Cattell Anxiety Scale (CAS), and Children Depression Scale (CDS-A). Since the PSS and CDS-A had no norm in Iran, they were then normed revealing reliability of 0.76 for PSS through Spearmen-Brown split half while it was 0.77 through Cronbach’s alpha. Similarly, the reliability for CDS-A was 0.9 and 0.89, respectively. In addition, the validity of the tests proved to be significant at p<0.001 once the correlation of each item with the whole test was obtained. Besides, factor analysis was conducted and examining the items which had the highest loadings on each item indicated that the items of the two tests were completely reliable. The epidemiology results indicated that the stress prevalence was 9.1% among the boys and 22% among the girls while it was 14.7% in the whole sample. This implies that the EBtela rate in girls was two and half times greater that the boys.

Introduction: The breast cancer burden is still increasing, both in developing and developed countries. The present study was conducted to determine the survival rate of breast cancer based on tumor biological subtypes in patients referring to three referral oncology centers at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Mashhad, Iran.Methods: The present population-based study was conducted at Imam Reza Hospital, Omid Hospital, and Reza Oncology Center, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Mashhad, Iran Demographic information, the status of biomarkers in immune-histochemical evaluation, clinical and pathological features of the tumor, type of therapy, recurrence, or death was recorded for each eligible patient.Results: In total, 247 patients were included in the study. The mean age of patients was 48.8 ± 1.3 years. The mean time of survival was 2.64±0.13 years. In detail, the survival rate from the first year to the fifth year was reported as 100%, 96%, 91%, 90%, and 89%, respectively. The survival rate of the luminal B subtype was higher than other subtypes but the difference was not significant (P=0.7). Only in terms of metastasis, there was a significant difference between the alive and dead patients (P=0.0001).Conclusion: Despite no significant relationship between biological markers, the breast cancer subtype, and its survival rate, the overall survival rate of the patients decreased lightly through five years. However, further studies are required to indicate more accurate data about the breast cancer survival rate in our region.

Introduction: paraquat is a cheap and easy access herbicide which its intoxication is limited in Iran. The current study aims to provide some epidemiologic data within paraquat poisoning from the most crowded referral center of clinical toxicology in Iran.Methods: We investigated the paraquat poisoning patients who were admitted to Loghman-Hakim Hospital in Tehran, Iran from 2008 to 2016.Results: A total of 12 patients participated in this study, 50% of these patients were between 10-20 years old, 41.7% were between 26-40 years old, and 8.3% were above 55 years old. About 83.3% were male, and 16.7% were female. Treatments which were given in the hospital include cyclophosphamide (58.3%), cortisol (75%), vitamin C (50%), vitamin E (83.3%), N-acetyl cysteine (83.3%). 66.6 percent of hospitalized patients required invasive measures to preserve their airways, with 3.33 percent undergoing tracheostomy and the same percentage undergoing intubation. There were five fatalities among the patients, three of which were related to pulmonary and renal failure.Conclusions: This study indicates that the majority are younger than 40 years and males. Prevention and limited access to this substance is necessary in terms of the lack of antidote.

Introduction:Acute Poisoning in the developed countries include about 2% of all childhood deaths and more than 5% cause of death in the developing countries. Poisoning usually is defined as taking a substance which can cause an organism becoming injured. The purpose of this study was to identify sociological factors that are important in improving prevention, prognosis, and management of poisoning. Methods: This retrospective evaluated 1200 children in the pediatric ward of the 22 Bahman hospital, Gonabad, Iran, from March 2015 to July 2018. The information about Children was recorded by individual examination of the files in standardized forms including epidemiological and demographic features for statistical analysis and data were analyzed by using the U Test Chi square, Pearson correlation analysis and variance analysis in SPSS Version 21.0. Results: Acute poisoning included 2.3% of referring causes with mean age 3.7 ± 1.3 years. The mean age of poisoned children was significantly lower than other children (p value = 0/002). The majority of cases were accidental poisonings with opium (ICD-10 T40.0X1) and methadone (ICD-10 T40.3X1). Most common symptoms were neurological disorders, vomiting, tachypnea and tachycardia.Common clinical symptoms in children diagnosed with poisoning include: Neurological symptoms including seizures, hallucinations, drowsiness, decreased level of consciousness and confusion (50%), nausea and vomiting (25%), tachypnea and tachycardia (7.1%). Respiratory depression, meiotic pupil, shortness of breath, cough, tears and hallucinations (3.6%) due to referring severe toxic patients to more equipped center no death was recorded in our center. Conclusion: Acute poisoning is one of the most abudant emergencies in children. This study with identifying epidemiological and demographic factors of acute poisoning in children would help to improve prevention, and management of future programs.

Human brucellosis and its prevalence are directly correlated with the presence of animal infections in various regions. The infections associated with Brucella species have been reported in numerous animals. The incidence of these infections has recently increased in the endemic regions in Iran, including Zagros areas and the northeast of the country. Therefore, there have been difficulties in the diagnosis of the infectious cases since there is the possibility of encountering resistant strains. Furthermore, the spread of immerging strains is among the challenges that rapidly affect animals, even vaccinated livestock. Antibiotic-resistant strains are important in livestock since drug resistance may rapidly spread to humans. Therefore, continuous investigation is required in the case of drug resistance or immerging strains. Conventional typing procedures are no longer used due to several difficulties. Identifying the type of Brucella could provide adequate data on epidemiological surveillance, investigation of the infection outbreaks, tracking the diseases, identifying the immerging types, reviewing the success rate of eradicating the infections, and examining the outbreaks in the endemic areas. The reports regarding the application of molecular typing methods are still under development. Extensive research has been focused on the typing of brucellosis, proposing controversial results and aiming to improve the applied procedures. This review aimed to assess the ability of the introduced molecular methods and their status for identification and typing procedures. In addition, the frequency and distribution of Brucella species and subspecies have been investigated.
